Fennel has a sweet aromatic taste that is slightly reminiscent of liquorice. Growing up to two metres high, this Mediterranean herbaceous perennial is characteristic of meat and fish specialities from Tuscany – however, you can also use it to give your stir-fried vegetables that extra magical Mediterranean flair.
